MODEL GUIDE · RUNNINGAREA EDITORIAL
A colour name can be a poor shortcut when shopping for a running shoe. In the 361° range, “Apex” appears on both the Flame 5 and Flame 5 Future. A search result showing that name and a mint-coloured shoe does not, by itself, identify which model is being offered.
Start with the model number
The manufacturer’s Flame 5 Apex listing uses the 672612213 model family. The Flame 5 Future Apex listing uses 672612207. The shared colour name does not make them the same shoe.
| Model | Model family | Midsole named by 361° |
|---|---|---|
| Flame 5 | 672612213 | CQT FLAME / eCO E40 nylon |
| Flame 5 Future | 672612207 | CQTEXTREME / performance TPEE |
These are manufacturer descriptions, rather than a RunningArea laboratory comparison. They give us a way to distinguish the products; they do not establish which one will feel better under a particular runner.
What the Flame 5 specification tells you
For the Flame 5, 361° describes a full-length curved carbon plate using its QU!K BONE-DYN+ and CARBON DOME names. Its published geometry is 33mm at the forefoot and 39mm at the heel, a 6mm drop. The page describes the 4mm insole separately, so we keep that figure separate too.
Our buying check is simple: compare the complete model name and code before comparing price. Keep “Future” in the name when it is present. If a listing borrows one model’s photograph and another model’s specification, ask the seller to resolve that mismatch before choosing a size.
Then compare the size labels
Our Flame 5 listing uses the 672612213 family and keeps colours together on one page. Choose a colour, then use its EU label alongside the verified US Men, US Women, UK and brand CM equivalents. The CM column is a size-chart label; it is not our measurement of the shoe’s internal length.
For a different kind of support construction, the MEGA3 PRO structure guide explains the nylon component named on that model’s specification. It is another reason to read the component description instead of relying on a broad “plated” label.
